Boys U11 White team splits pair of Futsal games

The Plymouth United U11 boys White team returned from a two-week break from games to split a pair of weekend Futsal contests in Novi.
United dropped an 11-2 decision to the Dearborn Heights Soccer Club's "A" team on Sunday. A day earlier, the White team erased a three-goal deficit in a 9-4 win over the Livonia City Soccer Club Meteors.
Dylan Schmitzerle played exceptionally well in goal in Sunday's loss, making countless saves _ many from point-blank range _ to keep the game as close as it was.
Despite the lopsided score, United never quit, getting on the board nine minutes into the first half when Alex Cross stole an inbounds pass, dribbled in on goal and beat the DHSC's goalie with a shot into the lower right corner of the goal.
The White team's other score also came as a result of a tremendous individual effort. Ashton Quinn was fouled hard halfway between midfield and the goal line in the attacking zone. He was awarded a free kick, placed the ball down and calmly fired it low and hard into the corner of the net.
The goals came more frequently for United on Saturday, but not at first.
Livonia led 3-0 after 22 minutes before an Ashton-to-Dylan pass resulted in a United goal. The floodgates opened from there with the boys scoring the game's next eight goals _ four by Alex, two by Nathan Hunt, and one each by Gabe Rosas and Oliver Horswill.
The White team returns to game action on Feb. 25.
