Boys White opens Canton Cup with 4-2 win

Alex Cross scored all three of his goals in the second half to lead the boys White team to a 4-2 win over Michigan Tigers Blue in United's 2012 Canton Cup opener Saturday morning.
The game was delayed due to lightning 7:36 in, but when the teams returned to the field, Riley List opened the scoring only a minute later.
That score stood until Alex's run down the right sideline ended with a bad-angle shot that found its way into the upper left corner of the goal 56 seconds into the second half. Liam Householder passed to Madison Grieb, who then fed Alex, as United worked the ball the length of the field in only a few seconds.
The Michigan Tigers drew within a goal at 2-1 at 7:43 of the second half, but another bad-angle shot from Alex five minutes later proved to be the game-winner. Alex also scored on a deflection at 19:26.
The Tigers' final goal, at 20:56, came via a penalty kick.
The White team's next game will be played Saturday afternoon against Goodrich SC White.
